Mirye Software, publishers of the cross-platform application development system Runtime Revolution and partner Paradigma Software sponsored BarCamp Seattle 2008. BarCamp Seattle 2008 was held June 14-15, 2008 at the Adobe Fremont Conference Center.
BarCamp Seattle 2008 participants were able to attend Programming for Non-Programmers, a presentation about using Runtime Revolution during the first session on Sunday June 15. The presentation included a quick overview of Revolution features and several productivity techniques for quickly creating prototypes and presentations using Runtime Revolution. Topics such as making the most of the Revolution messaging system and groups were also covered during the presentation.
Attendees were able to receive a free developer disk that included free copies of Revolution Media and also Paradigma Software's Valentina Community Server.
Valentina Community Server is based on Paradigma Software's ultra-fast columnar database technology Valentina, and runs on most commercially supported versions of Linux, such as Red Hat, SuSE and Ubuntu. Valentina Community Server supports unlimited connections and allows web application development using PHP.
BarCamp Seattle 2008 was well attended by independent knowledge workers and as well as corporate representatives from the northwest, including Microsoft, Adobe, Amazon, CostCo and Starbucks. BarCamp is an international network of user generated conferences — open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants — often focusing on early-stage web applications, and related open source technologies, social protocols, and open data formats. BarCamp events are planned based on an open grid, where participants can suggest and present topics by filling in the communal planning grid. BarCamp is a free, volunteer run event, with venues and meals covered by sponsors. |
